What''s New In Mingo Estates?

August 14, 2006

It's Block Party Time again!! Our annual Mingo Merry Madness party is planned for Saturday, August 26th, from 5 - 9 pm. As always, we'll be blocking off the eastern end of Merry Lane so we can have a DJ, kids games, crafts, doorprizes, and the ever-popular non-alcoholic margarita machine. If you'd like to help out with the event, or if you need information, call Patti.

School Issues

As many of you know, Mingo Estates has been a source of much dispute lately with our School Board. Our neighborhood is the only one in the district in which children begin on a North track, and finish on a Central track. Several of us went to a recent Board meeting so we could express our concerns, and I think the majority of the school board members understood where we were coming from. However, it's important that we stay on top of this issue, so I encourage everyone to attend school board meetings whenever they can.

Also coming up -- the School Board will likely be placing another bond issue on the ballot in November. If you're interested in helping out with the bond issue campaign and working with the Committee For Responsible Schools, please call Patti for more information.

Scholarships

The annual scholarship for $1000 was awarded to Shalemar Drive's Ryan Layton. Congratulations, Ryan!
