A HUGE SUCCESS!

Oak Flower and Dodge/Flower neighborhoods are participating in a community-based project addressing the prevention, intervention and treatment of methamphetamine use and addiction.

The neighborhoods are part of Tucson Neighbors Building Community, a coalition of residents working together to teach community members about meth and its negative impacts using a variety of tools and skills.

A "Meth-Get Out of Dodge!" block party took place on Saturday, June 3 from 8 to 11 am on Flower, east of Alvernon.

Beth Walkup, Ward 2 Councilwoman Karin Ulich and other community leaders spoke about the impact meth has on children, health, crime rates and the environment.

The Meth-Free Alliance is supporting this project through volunteers and steering committee members.

Information booths provided resources. Also, the Tucson Police Department had its Crime Preention Hummer, lab truck and Drug-Endangered Children RV on site.
