Citizens Patrol
Citizens Patrol Fights Crime
Rosemont Citizens Patrol was established in 1996 to help reduce crime in our community by being the eyes and ears for the Sheriff's Department. Teams of volunteer residents, equipped with CB radio equipment, vehicle placards, and high-powered spot lights patrol the streets of Rosemont in a non-confrontational manner looking for, and reporting suspicious activity and situations.
Some of the activities patrol volunteers look for include:
· Suspicious persons wandering through the neighborhood for an unusual length of time or without an apparent destination.
· Suspicious vehicles
· Graffiti
· Suspicious groups of people in the neighborhood, including young people out late at night.
· Neighborhood temptations such as garage doors open, gates open or car with lights left on.
· County code violations such as abandon vehicles, boats, etc.
Volunteers Needed
Volunteers of all ages are needed to patrol during the day and at night. All volunteers go through a brief training program that includes instructions on how to use the radio equipment, logging vehicle license plate numbers, and person descriptions.
This program is an excellent way to help deter crime and make our neighborhood safer.
