Scouts in Community Service
Saturday, March 4th, was the date for the Boy Scouts National Scouting-for-Food service project, and locally we had dozens of Cub Scout and Boy Scout units helping out. All food collected was donated to the Roseville Community Food Locker on Circuit Way (near Denio's Country Market). At the beginning of the day, food reserves at the Food Locker were almost empty, but after the food drive donations were all turned in more than SIX TONS of food were collected in Roseville by the Scouts. All Roseville Food Locker bins were filled, and there were sufficient extra canned goods collected to fill boxes stacked on pallets to store all that was given. Scouting for Food drive coordinator, Pam Kreiser, called it the single most successful food drive that Scouts in our council have participated in, and the officials at the Roseville Food Locker were extremely pleased with the results.

In our neighborhood, Cub Scout Pack 509, Boy Scout Troop 509, Cub Pack 804, Pack 918 and Troop 918 all participated in collecting food from residents within the area from Sunrise to Sierra College Blvd and from Linda Creek south to the county border. These units were responsible for over one and a half tons of food that was collected.. a major portion of the total. Thanks to all of our neighbors in the Meadow Oaks Neighborhood, and those nearby who so generously gave that their neighbors in Roseville who need assistance were able to get the help that they need. Thanks also to all of the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts who participated, and their leaders for pitching in as part of this National Service Project.

Boy Scouts

What a welcome piece of news. Scouts, too often, do not receive the recognition that they deserve for things they do for the community. Congratulations. Go Scouts!
