Holy Angels 40 Plus Singles Newsletter

10-20-2008
40 Plus Singles - October 2008 Newsletter

Welcome New Members! There are lots of new activities on the calendar so be sure to check it out. It changes pretty often.

Our group is growing and of course as our membership grows we will need to make some changes and become a little more organized. We will have a new profile form ready shortly and each member will be required to fill one out and submit it to either Joan Blair or Cheryl Blann. All information will be kept confidential. We may need to adopt some by-laws as well, but that is still up for discussion.

An important item of business is our name. Currently we are listed at 40Plus Singles. There is another singles group in this area called Delaware 40+ Singles. We would like to define ourselves a little better so that people are not confused when they see one of our events or hear about us, with the other group. Some of the names suggested for our consideration are:

Holy Angles 40Plus Singles
Catholic 40Plus Singles
Newark 40Plus Singles
Greater Newark 40Plus Singles
New Castle County 40Plus Catholic Singles
Cross Roads 40Plus Singles

Please email Cheryl at paintedlady56@gmail.com with your vote. At the November meeting there will be a talley of votes and the name with the most votes will win.

It's beginning to look and feel like Autumn so it must be time for our Autumn Progressive Dinner. We have a rather large group this year and our entrees will be tight. I have closed the attendance and if anyone cancels we will just adjust the distribution for each entree accordingly. I'm sorry to exclude anyone, but with only three people hosting entrees, it's the best we can do. This has been our most popular event.

We have chosen the VA Hospital in Elsmere as our community service project this Christmas. We will be taking up a collection of personal items for men and good used or new men's clothing. Please bring these items to the November meeting.

Some events added to the calendar are two dinners at the University of Delaware Blue & Gold Club and an afternoon in Old New Castle for the holidays (most likely we will go to dinner afterward). We will also be adding a pre-holiday Wine Tasting and due to the success of the Sunday Brunch at Deerfield, we will be adding another brunch, maybe at the Hotel duPont with an optional Mass before hand (place and time yet undetermined).

Be sure to check out the calendar often and sign up as early as you can for those events you are interested in as some events can only take a limited number of attendees and they are filling up fast. Any event without much interest will be cancelled.

If you have anything to add to our calendar, please let Cheryl know and be prepared to offer yourself as the contact person. If it's just an event of interest, we can post the link.

Take care and hope to see you all at an event or meeting soon!
Cheryl
