THANK YOU...THANK YOU...THANK YOU Mike and Dorothy Moore would like to thank everyone for their cards, physical help, phone calls and prayers after the burning of their barn. Your support is appreciated more than words can express. Sadie Hawkins Dance-March 17th We once again invite you to come in your "Sunday Best" hillbilly costumes. This year we have a very special mystery caller scheduled to join George in calling this dance. You won’t want to miss this!!!! New Dancer Jamboree-March 29th It’s always exciting to see the enthusiasm of new dancers and to help them discover how much fun square dancing can be. Lisa Gibbens is leading out in the planning of this dance and asks that you bring finger food and come prepared for a fun dance! We are so fortunate to have several young adults that are willing and able to help our club in various ways. Come and let Lisa know how much you appreciate her work, and help our square dance students have a great time! GOSPEL DANCE-April 7th Spring is just around the corner and SO IS OUR ANNUAL GOSPEL DANCE. Mike and Debbie Combs will be on the program along with George and Patty. It will be an all singing call dance with all gospel music including the intermediate and phase 2 rounds. Patty & Debbie have written quite a few of these dances. What a wonderful way to CELEBRATE EASTER. MYSTERY TRIP Mark your calendars for this year's Mystery Trip. The date.....May 12th! Where..you'll have to go, to find out. Intermediate Rounds Return The board has voted to return to a schedule of intermediate rounds at all dances from 7:00 pm to 7:30 pm, with the rest of the schedule continuing as it has been. This summer, we will re-evaluate this decision based on how many dancers we’ve had during this half-hour time frame. So -- if you enjoy dancing intermediate rounds, please demonstrate your desire to continue this opportunity by coming out and dancing with us! Oaky Doak Club Jackets We have the opportunity to order some good quality club jackets for $35-40 each. These jackets will be heavier and more durable than what we’ve had in the past -- and the emblems will be embroidered rather than screen-printed. So, if you don’t have a club jacket, or would like to replace yours, please contact Bonnie & Eugene Ivy at 503-289-0889. Annual Oaky Doaks Membership Meeting It’s time once again for our annual membership meeting. This once-a-year meeting of ALL OAKY DOAKS CLUB MEMBERS is an important opportunity to discuss club business and vote on changes that affect our club -- including our new club officers. Please do your best to be there -- Thursday, March 15, at 6:30 pm (an hour before square dance lessons start). Thank you! From the President – Can you believe it’s March already???? Though February sped by, we had a great time! The Valentine’s Brunch was well attended -- with great food, and fun games, as usual. Thank you so much Mike & Dorothy Moore and all who helped you! The "Reigning Cats and Dogs Dance" was great fun and we had a lot of visitors. We received a total of $280 in cash/check donations as well as approximately $150 worth of other donations for P.A.W.S. (cat shelter/adoption) and F.I.D.O. (dog control/shelter/adoption). The dog lovers prevailed by a very slim margin in our contests, but the cat lovers gave more donations, so both dogs and cats came out the winners. A big thank you to Amy Manley for all her work on this dance. Thanks also to all those who helped her. And thanks to all of you who came out and supported our furry friends. As we move into March and start thinking of Spring, we look forward to more fun times with our square dance friends. Please note the following March/April events that are detailed elsewhere in this newsletter: Annual Membership Meeting, Sadie Hawkins Dance, New Dancer Jamboree, and Gospel Dance. See you on the dance floor. © 1997,1998,1999 E.Central, Inc. |
