From the President --
As 2006 draws to a close and we move into a new year, many of us pause to reflect on the year past and the things we would like to accomplish this coming year.
Reviewing this past year, I am reminded once again of all that the Oaky Doaks means to me personally. Each one of you has had an impact on my life. I am so grateful for your friendship and for all the things you do to help our club run smoothly. Your contribution of time, energy, and enthusiasm are what makes our club so special. Thank you!
As you know, I had a lot of unexpected travel last year that made it rather challenging for me to stay on top of everything I wanted to. I appreciate your support through the rough times. I think I’m nearly caught up with things now. Please, if there is anything I promised any of you that hasn’t happened yet, remind me! If there is anything you need in order to complete the jobs you signed up for, please let me know!
Thanks once again for all that you have done and are doing for our club. I look forward to wonderful things happening for the Oaky Doaks in 2007 -- thanks to all of you! See you on the dance floor.

Mid Winter Festival – Jan 26-28th
Mid Winter is coming soon. If you have arranged for a motel room through Bonnie please contact the Econo Lodge in Albany, directly, and give them your credit card number to reserve the room. The Econo Lodge phone number is 541-926-0170 and the Oaky Doaks group reservation number is 563344.

Square Dance Classes
We’re looking forward to a class full of new square dancers starting January 4 (7:30 - 9:30 pm). The very most important way to see that we have new dancers in our class is for each person to think of several friends, family members, or acquaintances that might enjoy square dancing and talk it up to them. It helps a great deal if we can encourage them to come -- and even come with them. You can also help by posting flyers in your neighborhood and in neighborhoods around the hall. Thank you so much for helping to get the word out any way that you can. If you have any questions, contact Joanne & Mike Johnson (503-760-6130) or George & Patty Hermann (503-465-9398).

New Theme Dance Feb 17th – Reigning Cats and Dogs Dance
This will be our first "Reigning Cats and Dogs Dance". This dance will contain a friendly rivalry between cat and dog lovers -- with donations to go to a local animal shelter. Based on the results of a contest between the dog supporters and the cat supporters, we will crown either a Dog or a Cat our reigning animal patron for the year. Mark this on your calendars and tell your friends. This dance will be a great deal of fun.
