What's the Green Thing Wrapped Around That Tree?

To help newly planted trees take root, Tree Gators are being used by the city Parks Dept. These are dark green, heavy duty vinyl bags with zippers that allow them to be filled with up to 20 gallons of water. The water gradually seeps through a mesh at the bottom. It usually takes 10 hours for the bags to empty into the ground. Parks Dept sends water trucks around the city to fill them up about once a week. Call 311 if you see any tree gators that need to be filled. They really do help promote tree growth.
