Trustees Establish Three New Committees

During the Trustees meeting held on August 18, 2003 a motion was passed to create three Committees as follows:
1. Auditing Committee — Standing Committee - Audit the books annually or whenever there is a change in the office of Treasurer. Julie Squier, Chairperson; Carol Comanita, Member; and Will Snell, Member are serving on this Committee.

2. Deed Restriction Committee — Standing Committee — Review and propose changes to existing deed restrictions. After revised deed restrictions are adopted, this Committee will investigate complaints and report findings to the Trustees for discussion and appropriate action. This Committee will also serve as the Architectural Review Committee until changes in the Bylaws and Deed Restrictions are finalized. Carol Comanita, Chairperson; Lisa Ross, Member; Don Roeder, Member and Will Snell, Member are currently serving on this Committee.
The Deed Restriction Committee intends to hold public hearings to allow all CWCA members (residents) to appear before the Committee and express opinions and concerns in regard to possible revisions of the current deed restrictions which were established some thirty years ago. After the Committee’s report is adopted by the Trustees, the changes will be submitted to the membership (residents) for ratification. The Trustees are committed to fairly, but vigorously; enforce the deed restrictions once the democratic process of revision has been completed. Notices will be provided to all residents when places, dates and times have been selected for the public hearings.

3. Bylaw Committee - Ad Hoc - Review the Bylaws and propose
changes to the Bylaws of the C Will Snell, Chairman; Rachel
Hintz, Member and Don Roeder, Member are currently serving on this
Committee.
The CWCA Bylaws have not been updated for many years. Proposed changes In the Bylaws are also subject to ratification by the CWCA membership (residents).

All Committee reports will be made available to the residents of Chevington Woods after adoption by the Trustees.

The CWCA offers a tip of the hat and our thanks to the following for their volunteer service to you:
Len Hritzo and Paul Grubbs -

Len Hritzo and his helper, Paul Grubbs, have maintained the street lights in Chevington Woods for more than seventeen years. Like all CWCA Trustees, officers and volunteers, Len and Paul have performed this valuable service for you free of charge. The next time you run into Len or Paul please express your appreciation for a job well done and join the Trustees in wishing them a long, happy and healthy retirement.

Trustee Will Snell has volunteered to replace Len as the street light maintenance man and neighbor Rob Elkins has volunteered to help as the second member of the street light maintenance team when assistance is needed. Will can be contacted via email at via telephone if a street light is out in your area.

Julie and Don Squier -
The entrances to Chevington Woods are looking better thanks to the efforts of Trustee Julie Squier and her helper (husband) Don. Even during the recent cold spell Julie and Don were observed working at the entrances by many Chevington Woods residents.
The word on the Chevington Woods streets is that Spring will bring a pleasant surprise to the neighborhood when the fruits of their Fall labor Spring into bloom.

Beggar’s night in Chevington Woods is an annual event that has become a neighborhood tradition thanks to the efforts of Nancy Cohagan and her team of helpers. Unfortunately, Nancy had to be out of town this year but her team did an excellent job in her absence. A tip of the CWCA hat to -
Rosie Berman, Gail Mallory and Marge Jacobs for serving cider and donuts to the beggars and residents who stopped by at the North Reserve to enjoy a social visit with their Chevington Woods neighbors.

A Neighborhood Tradition Continues
SANTA will visit Chevington Woods children and grandchildren during the evening of December 10th between 6:30 and 9:30 pm. If you would like to have SANTA. visit your children, please call Bev Tumbilson to schedule before December 6th. Thank you to Sam Turner for donating his time to be the jolly old elf. Sam is a former resident now living on Saylor Road and has been the jolly old elf for many years to our Chevington family.

A Note From CWCA President Carol Comanita -

When I agreed to accept the job of President of the CWCA, I did so to give something back to a community that has made coming home from work as a teacher at Independence High School a pleasant experience for the 10 years l have lived in Chevington Woods. Chevington Woods Is a great place to come home to!
I am not a politician and I have no political aspirations. However, I do care about my community and, like my neighbors, I also care about the investment I have made in my home.
Many of you have probably chatted with me as my faithful canine companion, Max, and I have enjoyed our evening walks throughout Chevington Woods. Over the past few months the recurrent theme raised in impromptu conversations with Chevington Woods residents has been “deed restrictions”. I have heard your message loud and clear. I believe the revival of the CWCA is propelled by deed restriction issues.
Nevertheless, we must get our CWCA house in order to proceed. The Committees established by the newly elected Trustees are continuing their work. The time required is unpaid, volunteer time away from their families.
This issue of the Chevington Woods News is more or less a preview of things to come. I would appreciate your constructive comments as we strive to make Chevington Woods a better place to live.
