Reigning Cats and Dogs Dance – Feb. 17th

February 17 will be our first "Reigning Cats and Dogs Dance". This dance will be great fun, as well as an opportunity to help out our furry friends in a couple of local animal shelters. We will have a friendly rivalry between cat and dog lovers -- a contest between the dog supporters and the cat supporters. Based on the results, we will crown either a Dog or a Cat our reigning animal patron for the year. Mark this on your calendars and tell your friends. We are requesting that you bring donations to help our local animal shelters. In addition to cash, they can use: chew toys, cat litter, premium dog food, Purina One Chicken and Wild Rice cat food, leashes, collars, large garbage bags and pine sol. Visitors who come with donations will get $1 off admission at the door. Come join in on the fun!
From the President --
By the time you read this, we will be back from the Mid-Winter Festival. The Oaky Doaks can once again be proud of the callers and cuers in our club, as well as our representation in the Showcase of Rounds. Kudos to: George & Patty, Mike & Lisa and Patty's Pride (Chris & Karen, Dave & Tina, Geof & Cheryl, Bonnie & Eugene, Bob & Sylvia, Amy & Michael, Gil & Joyce, Mike & Dorothy, and George & Patty). Great job!
February brings an opportunity to remember those we love as we celebrate Valentine's Day. This year, in addition to our annual Valentine's Brunch (thank you Mike & Dorothy Moore!!!!), we have the opportunity to remember those furry companions that mean so much to many of us - you won't want to miss our "Reigning Cats and Dogs" Dance.
As a part of remembering those we love, I'd like to highlight a few of the many wonderful Oaky Doaks who work behind the scenes to help our club run more smoothly. Lila Ramsay has volunteered to help Diana Trend with the Kitchen Duty roster. Thank you both for organizing this important hospitality piece! A big thank you also to our vice presidents for all their work with lessons. It's a big job and we are so grateful for your leadership in this area. Thank you Amy and Joanne! And a big thank you to Michael Kious for leading out with publicity efforts. If you would like to help spread the word about our special dances and other events, please offer him your support. And Terry Nelson - thank you so much for all your work on our newsletter! I could go on and on as there are so many special Oaky Doaks members who make a real contribution. We are so fortunate to have such active club members. In this Valentine's season, I invite you to take a few moments to let some of your Oaky Doaks friends know how much you appreciate their contribution to our club!
You, as a part of our Oaky Doaks family, are an important part of "those we love." We look forward to seeing you at our activities again this month.
See you on the dance floor.
Cheryl
