Turning The Boulevard Green

The QBRG has submitted a request to have several areas along Queens Blvd turned into Green Streets sites. The program, run by the NYC Parks Dept, converts traffic islands and triangles into
greens spaces with trees and shrubs. Several hundred are located throughout the city. They literally turn bare concrete spaces, however small, into a green oasis for all to enjoy. Commitments from local businesses and volunteer groups allow this program to thrive.
With dozens of dead trees and empty tree pits currently lining QB, we believe it's about time that Forest Hills and Rego Park be enrolled in this very fine program. Queens Blvd is the main street of Queens County and it does not deserve to look like some run-down back alley. Several sponsors have already expressed interest. We hope our request proves successful.
