WHAT: Today, more than ever, young people are pitching in to make a difference in their communities. During April 20-22, 2007, over three million youth across the
country will participate in National & Global Youth Service Day.

On National & Global Youth Service Day, a public awareness and education campaign that highlights the amazing contributions that young people make to their communities 365 days a year, young people will design and lead service-learning projects in areas ranging from literacy and the environment, to healthcare, hunger, and help for the elderly. As the largest service event in the world, engaging millions of young people, National & Global Youth Service Day draws together a remarkable consortium of local, regional, and national partners, while supporting youth on a life-long path of service and civic engagement. The Presenting Sponsor of National & Global Youth Service Day is the State Farm Companies Foundation.

Difference Makers, a youth led faith based community service organization, in a Celebration of the 19th Annual National & Global Youth Service Day (N&GYSD) will sponsor “ It’s Showtime at the Apollo” talent show fundraiser on Friday, April 20, 2007.

This event will be a benefit fundraiser for Save Kids of Incarcerated Parents (SKIP), Inc. organization. SKIP’s mission is to provide supportive services to children of incarcerated parents and their families, and to increase public awareness of the underlying problems of these children as victims. This project will raise money to help SKIP with its efforts to provide after school tutorial, summer camps and mentoring programs for youth whose parents are incarcerated. We also want to help publicize and promote awareness of the works of the organization.

The youth group will partner with community groups, schools, church organizations, other youth organizations, city and state agencies and the media to help raise needed funds to support SKIP’s after-school and mentoring programs.
