No official visitations scheduled.

George & Patty’s Schedule

June 30th, calling and cueing the 5th Saturday plus dance for the Country Cut-Ups.
July 6th, sharing plus program with Roger Putzler and Christina Correlli-Goode for the Bucanneers in Eugene.
Starlight Parade - June 2nd
Remember, we are DARK on June 2nd this year, so that we can dance on the float in the Starlight Parade. This is an opportunity that only comes along occasionally (next year it will be another club's opportunity) so don't miss your chance to participate! Check with Bonnie Ivy for details (503-289-0889).

Picnic Dance – June 16th
June 16 will be here before we know it, and this year we'll be celebrating the start of summer with a Picnic Dance, so start thinking about a nice summery outfit to wear. We'll want to bring picnic-type food for this dance, but I think we can do without the ants, right?

Garage Sale - June 29, 30 and July 1
Start going through your things now to find what you want to contribute to our club yard sale. The proceeds this year will be going to help pay for our Weekend Retreat at YMCA Camp Collins.

Club Picnic & New Board Installation - July 28th
This year’s club picnic will be Saturday July 28th at North Clackamas Park at 5440 S.E. Kellogg Creek Drive (see attached map) from 11 am to 4 pm. We have a covered area just west of the Senior Center. The club will provide beverages. Bring your own table setting and potluck to share.

We’ll also use this occasion to install our new club officers at a joint board meeting starting at 11 am. The Board would like ALL OAKY DOAKS to be there to show your support for the both the outgoing and incoming club officers!

ROUND DANCE LESSONS
It will soon be time for Round Dance Lessons. Beginning Two Step Lessons will start on Thursday, September 6th at 7:00pm. Round dancing is FUN and goes hand in hand with square dancing. Tell your friends about classes. Everyone is welcome.

CHA CHA / RUMBA
We have had some interest in Intermediate Round Dance lessons. I am considering teaching a Cha Cha and Rumba class this fall. If you are seriously interested, please give me a call at 503-465-9398 or talk to me at a dance. We would have to have a certaion amount of serious committment from students as well as us as teachers to make this work.

THANK YOU....THANK YOU
Patty & George would like to thank everyone for the cards, telephone calls, flowers and many prayers during Patty's recent surgery and hospital stay. They are appreciated more than words can say. Patty is home now and continues to recuperate.

From Your News Letter Editors
This will be our last issue as editors of the Oaky Doak news. No more fighting graphics that won’t stay put when pasted into text or lost edits because the computer locked up. What a relief! Sue and I have enjoyed putting together the newsletter and maintaining the website over the last couple of years. You have made it easier by providing us great material to include. Thanks! And thanks for being great friends! Sue and I will soon be moving to the Eugene area but plan to keep dancing and staying in touch with all of you.
Ranch Campout Trip – July 20-22
Terry and Sue Nelson have arranged for a repeat of last years campout, dance and barbeque at a guest ranch at no cost to you other then your help at dance and bringing a potluck dish for the barbeque.

Members are welcome to stay at Sundance Meadows Ranch on both Friday and Saturday nights. Or just come over for Saturday’s festivities. We’ll have access to “dry” campsites under the juniper with assurances of a coyote serenade. There are motels nearby in Bend for those not wishing to camp.

Activities abound at the ranch. Miles of trail to hike or bike, swim in the pool, play putt-putt or Frisbee golf, check out the horses and cows, fish in the pond, and explore nearby shopping, museums and other recreational sites.

Saturday night we’ll help the ranch put on a potluck barbeque followed by square dance/mixer with other ranch guests. Contact Terry or Sue Nelson (636-2857) for more information and to sign-up.

From the President -
This year is speeding by. It's hard to believe that this is the last newsletter before we install our new president, Bonnie Ivy, at our club picnic, July 28 -- and thus my last "From the President" article!

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all of our club members for the things they have done this year to make this a great year for our club. Here's at least a partial list. (If you don't see something you've done listed, please know that it's not because it wasn't appreciated -- just a memory issue!) First, our club officers -- in addition to hosting board meetings and greeting people at the door at our dances and accepting the dance fees, they have done the following:
• Bonnie and Eugene Ivy -- As past presidents they were expected to represent our club at PAC meetings and keep us up to date on PAC activities that might affect us, but they've gone far beyond that this year. They've been great help to me behind the scenes when I had questions or concerns, and have always been willing to step in and help at the last minute when emergencies arise. They've also taken charge of Sadie Hawkins Dance, the Starlight Parade, and the Club Yard Sale. In addition, they've been a great help at lessons, our Christmas Party, and the Valentine's Brunch. Thanks Bonnie and Eugene for all you do for our club. Our club will be in good hands next year when you again serve as our club president!
• Amy Manley -- Amy was willing to step in at the last minute as 1st Vice President when we suddenly had a vacancy, and she did a great job leading out with the round dance lessons, and being there for the square dance lessons as needed. In addition to that, she led out with the Reigning Cats and Dogs Dance, served on the publicity committee, and helped chair the Mystery Trip. She also has willingly stepped in to help when things came up at the last minute that needed attention. Amy, we appreciate all you've done for the club, and your willingness to continue serving the club next year as our club secretary!
• Dave and Tina Waldrep -- As 2nd Vice President, Dave and Tina Waldrep have done a great job with the square dance lessons. In addition, they helped with the Mystery Trip, and are heading up the Picnic Dance this month. Thanks so much for your help!
• John and Mary Sullivan -- In addition to handling the money for our club as our treasurer, John and Mary have helped in several other ways. They've served as angels for our square dance lessons, and headed up both the Thanksgiving Dance and the Cinco de Mayo Dance. Mary also served as our club historian and both helped with preparations for the Christmas Party. Thank you both for all you do!
• Terry and Sue Nelson -- Terry and Sue have been great secretaries for our club for several years. We will miss them greatly when they move to Eugene! In addition to taking minutes at meetings, they have done a great job with the newsletter and club website. They also took charge of the Pumpkin Dance and helped with preparations for the Christmas Party. They also have been faithful angels for our square dance lessons. Then there's the fun camping trips to the ranch in Bend that they've arranged. Thanks you two for all that you do for our club. Make sure you come back and see us often after you move!!!!!
• Joyce and Gil Frey -- Joyce and Gil have served our club as Members at Large, and we're so glad they'll be doing the same next year. Joyce also has been a great help in arranging for door prizes thoughout the year, helping to plan and prepare for the Christmas Party, and helping with the Christmas Dance, the Gospel Dance, and the Anniversary Dance. Thanks so much for all you've done!

• Chris and Karen Suran -- Chris and Karen were also Members at Large this year, and we're so grateful that their willingness to step up and serve as our club Treasurer next year. As usual, Chris has been a faithful angel for our lessons, and helped out in several less visible ways -- such as sweeping the floor after our dances and lessons, and helping prep for our Christmas party. The things you do behind the scenes make such a difference! Thank you! Karen is also an important part of this team. Her role on the calling tree is SO important to this club, and we also appreciate her willingness to help Bonnie and Eugene get ready for the yard sale.
• Geof Manley -- And I can't forget my wonderful husband who has been such a support to me as president this year. Thanks, Honey, for all you've done, stepping in to help in ways far too many to count. In addition to the more visible things you've done -- such leading out when I couldn't be here, and helping with the Christmas Party and Valentine's Dance and angeling lessons -- I've been very grateful for the support behind the scenes -- from being a sounding board for me to xeroxing papers. Whatever I've needed, you've been there to help, and I'm very grateful.
However, it's not just the officers that have done so much for the club this year. The contributions of everyone are needed to keep our club running smoothly, and our other members have been very active and helpful as well -- including the younger members. Thanks to all of you for taking your turn with kitchen duty, and bringing food for our potluck each dance. Thanks also to all who have helped angel our lessons -- you are a very important part of successful lessons! In addition, a special thanks goes out to the following for the additional contributions they've made to our club (in no particular order):
• Mike Kious -- chairing the Back to School Dance, heading up the Publicity Committee, and heading up the planning for the Mystery Trip.
• Lisa Gibbens -- helping with the Mystery Trip and planning our Jamboree.
• JoAnne and Mike Johnson -- helping with our lessons and the calling tree.
• Dianna Trend -- helping with our kitchen duty roster
• Lila Ramsey -- helping with kitchen duty roster, kitchen supplies, helping with refreshments for lessons, and the Valentine's brunch
• Mike and Dorothy Moore -- taking charge of the Valentine's Brunch, helping with kitchen supplies and refreshments for lessons, and willingness to serve as 1st Vice President in the upcoming year.
• Lil Inman -- Sunshine
• Bob & Sylvia Duncan -- helping with the publicity committee
• Marvin & Shirley Jones -- taking charge of the Silver Falls Retreat and helping with the Reigning Cats and Dogs dance (we sure appreciate your sewing abilities, Shirley!). We appreciate your willingness to help with the retreat again in September.
• Maxine Cross -- helping with the Valentine's brunch and willingness to help with the calling tree next year
• LeRoy and Donna Lundy -- serving on the audit committee and planning our club picnic
• Marie Friend -- helping with our Anniversary Dance and willingness to serve as Member At Large for the upcoming year.

And we can't forget our club caller and cuer.

In addition to the very obvious contribution George and Patty Hermann make each dance as they call and cue, they've been major contributors in other ways as well. They are great teachers for our lessons, and we are very fortunate to have them teach our classes each year. They also were in charge of both the Christmas Dance and the Gospel Dance and arranged for Mike & Debbie Combs to join us for those dances. This year George has also planned our visitations and arranged for several demos. Patty has also served as our OFN reporter and written articles for our own Oaky Doaks Newsletter.
