Tree Stumps Removed, New Trees Planted

The city has finally come through on its promise to remove dozens of old tree stumps along Queens Blvd. In early April, nearly 40 stumps were removed and nearly 50 trees were planted on the medians along QB in Forest Hills and Rego Park. Many of these stumps were nearly 20 years old! The QBRG submitted tree surveys and letters to the mayor's office, Community Board 6, and the Parks Dept Forestry Division. Queens Parks and Recreation Commissioner Dorothy Lewandowski and Partnerships for Parks assisted in tackling this major project. Our thanks to them! Olsen's Landscaping Co. actually did the work. They are responsible for watering the new trees for two years. If a tree dies within this timeframe, it will be replaced.
If you see a dead tree or an act of vandalism, call 311.
We hope more sections of Queens Blvd will see more green in the near future. It helps our environment and gives QB a neater look.
