September Meeting Highlights

Hi Everyone and welcome to our new members! Our group is growing and we are really excited to have everyone!!!

A pretty large group turned out for our September meeting and we got more sign-ups for activities as well as some new ones.

We have chosen the VA Hospital in Elsmere as our community service project this Christmas. We will be taking up a collection of personal items for men and good used or new men's clothing. Please bring these items to the November meeting.

Some events this month are the deck party at CW Harborsides Friday 9/12. A PWP dance at Minquas Fire Hall on 9/19, and a Mexican Night at Georgeen's. All should be lots of fun - come and meet some new members.

Be sure to check out the calendar here and sign up as early as you can for those events you are interested in. Sometimes space is limited or an event will be cancelled for low participation.

Plans are in the works for the Progressive Dinner (October). If you haven't signed up yet, it's not too late. We still need another person to host an entree. It is fun to buddy-up with someone and share the responsibility for that - so don't be shy!

Also, UD has printed their Fall 08/Spring 09 show schedule and it's looking pretty good - this is Broadway quality theater for a fraction of the cost right in our backyard!!! Check it out at: http://www.udel.edu/theatre/season.html. We need to decide which shows we would like to see on which dates to get our tickets before the sell out. A group of only ten will get us a discount and the Blue & Gold club is offering discounts for a "Pint 'n Bite" or an Opening Night Reception (meet the cast). Email Cheryl with your preferences at paintedlady56@gmail.com.

Other activities being considered are Sight & Sound in Lancaster Christmas Shows and the Three Little Bakers Christmas Show at the Grand (both of these would need a coordinator/contact person).

If you have anything to add to our calendar, please let Cheryl know and be prepared to offer yourself as the contact person. If it's just an event of interest, we can post the link.

Take care and hope to see you all soon! Next month is bring a snack to the meeting day:)
