Residents meet with Councilwoman Katz

Concerned Forest Hills residents and
merchants met with Councilwoman
Melinda Katz in November to discuss
the ongoing sanitation issues on
Queens Blvd. The major issue remains
the removal of trash and high weeds
from the Blvd’s center and outer
medians. As part of the city’s
agreement, maintenance of the
Queens Blvd medians is the
responsibility of the Dept of
Sanitation. This includes trash and
snow removal. Last year, despite
numerous complaints, the city brought
cleaning crews only sporadically to
Forest Hills and Rego Park. Katz has
repeatedly asked Mayor Bloomberg
for assistance, but due to budget
constraints, a regular cleaning
schedule was not possible last year.
Hopefully this year will be different.
A petition drive is underway.
