3rd Annual Fall Cleanup a Success

Workers from the Doe Fund Organization along with local volunteers including assistance from The Rego Park Group, cleaned up all medians from Union Turnpike to Yellowstone Blvd on Sat, Oct 29th. Weather conditions were finally favorable for this project. Approximately 70 bags of trash were removed from Queens Blvd; an additional dozen were removed from several medians in Rego Park. This was the first time we ventured into Rego Park. The operation ran from 9:00 to 3:00 as planned. The triangle at 75th Av and QB was also spruced up with seasonal plants.
Our next project is to get all residents and merchants on board to get the city to improve
the QB streetscape. Let's face it - there really is no streetscape to speak of other than dead trees, empty tree pits, and broken medians and crosswalks. A petition drive and letter writing campaign will begin soon.
Thanks for your continued support!
