SCW Foundation, Inc. Awards & Trophies Given by The SCW Foundation The Fred Keidel Memorial Trophy Fred Keidel was one of the founding members of SCW. His background in engineering gave the Club a valuable technical resource from dance music to refrigeration. Later on he became a skating judge. The Fred Keidel Memorial Trophy was created to honor him. It is usually given at the Club's Annual Meeting for excellence in Adult Dance. The Lee Trophy The Lee Trophy is the Club's oldest test achievement trophy which used to be given by Harlene Lee at least 30 years ago. Harlene was the dance partner for many years of the late Ritter Shumway, and they performed in some of our big ice shows. The recognition award is given to the top 4 finalists. The Lee Trophy is kept on permanent display at The Skating Club of Wilmington. The skater in first place is awarded with his or her name engraved on the trophy plus a small trophy to keep. Skaters who earned second, third and fourth most points may be given small trophies at the discretion of the Club, but their names are not engraved on the Lee Trophy. The total number of points is based on a scoring system which takes into account the difficulty and number of tests taken successfully from July 1 of the previous year through June 30th of the current year. The Pat Lalor Memorial Trophy Pat Lalor was a much loved Freestyle skating coach at SCW. He actually trained at SCW, moved to Philadelphia to teach skating at another rink, came back to teach at our Club and married one of our members. Pat died in his 40's of cancer which is when the Pat Lalor Memorial Trophy was created. It is usually given at the Club's Annual Meeting for excellence in Freestyle Skating.
