CART Resolution

A Resolution by the Coalition for the Advancement of Regional
Transportation (CART) requesting that Governor Paul Patton:
1) establish a statewide strategy for sustainable growth;
2) issue an Executive Order requiring cabinets & agencies of the
Commonwealth of Kentucky to ensure their programs, policies &
practices are consistent with the statewide strategy for
sustainable growth;
3) propose specific, comprehensive & enforceable legislation
supportive of sustainable growth.
WHEREAS, our current patterns of growth require inordinate
infrastructure investment;
WHEREAS, our current patterns of growth are at the expense of
agriculture, forest & wetlands;
WHEREAS, our current patterns of growth wastefully consume a wide
range of natural resources;
WHEREAS, our current patterns of growth are inequitable &
detrimental to our communities;
WHEREAS, our current patterns of growth inhibit our pursuit of
healthier growth patterns;
WHEREAS, our current patterns of growth are not sustainable
environmentally, spacially, economically or socially:
Now, therefore, be it Resolved by the Coalition for the
Advancement of Regional Transportation (CART) that Governor Paul
Patton be requested to:
1) establish a statewide strategy for sustainable growth;
2) issue an Executive Order requiring cabinets & agencies of the
Commonwealth of Kentucky to ensure their programs, policies &
practices are consistent with the statewide strategy for
sustainable growth;
3) propose specific, comprehensive & enforceable legislation
