The "GOLDEN HANDS" GROUP
It is our pleasure to welcome Lucy Aponte as the Instructor of our Knitting Class. When Lucy is not instructing, she works as an LPN at the Sienna House Women's Shelter in the Bronx.
Much of her time is spent monitoring the health of pregnant women, new mothers and their babies.
Besides her nursing skills, Lucy teaches creative parenting, instructs an early literacy program in which moms and babies are taught how to interact through music, reading and communications. A "Jack of all trades", Lucy is also an artist. We are fortunate to have her at R.A.I.N. Boston Road!

NOW TO THE "GOLDEN HANDS" STORY!
Under the guidance and inspiration of Ms. Aponte, the members of the Knitting Class started knitting and crocheting blankets and sweatrs for the moms and babies at Lucy's Women's Shelter.

A VIRTUAL TOUR OF R.A.I.N. BOSTON ROAD SENIOR CENTER
Two of our favorite and most important gathering spots in the Center are the newly refurbished auditorium and the dining room.
The first thing we do at the Center (after signing in) is head for the auditorium to meet our friends over a hot cup of coffee! We begin the day with a leisurly cup of coffee and our morning social hour.
And a beautiful day it is! Then we're on our way to other activities. Later, we'll come back to dance, play cards, attend a lecture, watch a movie, or even do some exercise. Wow! What a way to spend the morning!

At 11:15, we head for the dining room for a great hot lunch. You simply could not beat our meals for a contribution of $1.25! Then it's back to other activities for the rest of the afternoon. Won't you join us at 2424 Boston Road? You'll be glad you did!
