Christian Nursing Service Meals On Wheels Introduction Meals on Wheels is another volunteer service sponsored by Christian Nursing Service. Meals are prepared at St. Clare Medical Center, and are packaged and delivered by CNS volunteers. Currently meals are delivered in Crawfordsville, Madison Township (Linden), and New Market. A Client may choose to have a hot meal delivered around noon, and, if desired, can arrange for a sack meal for the evening. Special dietary needs can be met. A doctor’s order is required, however, it is easy to obtain the doctor’s order. A coordinator for the Meals on Wheels program calls the doctor’s office and the order is given verbally over the phone. The hot meal costs $2.50; the sack meal costs $2.00. Frozen meals, which are delivered on Friday, may be ordered for the weekend. The Monday volunteers collect for the past week’s meals. A week’s hot meals cost $12.50. Both hot and sack meals together cost $22.50. Financial assistance is available for those in need. For More Information For information regarding Meals on Wheels, call one of the coordinators, either Isobel Arvin (362-6226) or Marge Ross (362-2460). Either Isobel or Marge can assist in arranging for meals to be delivered. Volunteer Drivers Volunteer drivers are always needed for Meals on Wheels. Volunteers may drive as often as one day per week every other month, or as infrequently as one day a month. Anyone willing to drive, either on a regular basis or as an emergency driver, should contact Jim Sexton Meals on Wheels is proud of its delivery record! Volunteers with four-wheel drive vehicles are called upon to deliver meals during winter storms. Like the U.S. Mail, we must deliver!
