Friends of Historic Glasgow (Delaware) Discussions

Now Is the Time

1-10-2006
Do you live within New Castle County, DE, Cecil County, MD, or Chester County, PA? Do you care about your quality of life?

All development projects should preserve the quality of life for existing and future residents and, whenever possible, make quality of life better. Do the current plans for 224 housing units, a strip shopping center, roads, parking lots, and a school on the historic La Grange farm property do that? Will this project improve the environment, ease traffic congestion, preserve irreplaceable history and open space? If you doubt the answers are “no” and “no” to the previous two questions, then I suggest you review the State of Delaware P.L.U.S. report that you can download from this website.

But if you already believe that development is out of control in New Castle County, and that greedy landowners and developers, their politician friends, and their hired gun lawyers are taking the citizens and taxpayers for a ride, then Friends of Historic Glasgow needs your help.

Now is the time to put your money and your effort where it can do some good. It is time to rise up and make it known that you don’t like what is happening to the historic La Grange farm property. Write letters, send e-mails, and call your elected officials in New Castle County and the Christina School District. Attend every public hearing announced on this website and make your opinion known. Volunteer to help FOHG in any way you can. We have lists of things that need doing. And finally, donate some money to help FOHG out.

After all, it’s your quality of life that is at stake, just as much as mine.
