Anderson Power Pole Concerns

12-10-2007
Just when I thought my problems were solved by using Anderson power poles.....I came across two issues:

1) the roller pin issue: some say NOT to use the roller pin as they can drop out and fall into equipment posing concerns for possible shorts in the radio. The first article I read suggested to put a drop of super glue in the seam between the red and black blocks permanently gluing them together...another to use silicone cement, 1 drop, in the roller pin hole...with the advantage that this still allows the blocks to be separated if necessary.

2) and then I encountered this article http://home.comcast.net/~buck0/app.htm
and there is apparently an inconsistency as to what the order should be for the red/black left/right or right/left between different ARES groups. So the suggested solution was to use plastic cable ties to hold the red/black blocks together allowing for the option to cut the ties to free the blocks to enable realigning them as needed.

Well, you can't solve the problem for everyone, right? But perhaps GERC needs to set some guidelines so that within it's own group, everyone is consistent.....

Hope this helps.
