I just happened on this:
08/24/2002 to 07/31/2004. Exhibit: Notations: Lawrence Weiner. Located outside the Wexner Center for the Arts, The Ohio State University. Free. New
York-based conceptual artist Lawrence Weiner is internationally renowned for his sculptural, text-based works that feature enigmatic, fragmentary statements displayed in public spaces. In Columbus, he will inlay black bricks with text on an existing brick circle in Mirror Lake Hollow, a prominent outdoor park area on The Ohio State University campus. The text will read: Put where it was not. Used as it was not. Left where it is.
Another insertion of text, in a smaller inlaid brick circle just south of the large one, will read: Until it is. Weiner also will be working in the Wexner Center's Art & Technology studio to produce a one minute, 30-second sound piece related to this piece. These spots, to be aired on a local radio station, will feature statements akin to the phrases embedded in the Sout Oval bricks. Weiner has exhibited his text-based pieces around the world, including the Guggenheim Bilbao, the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles. He had his first solo show in 1960. 614/292-3535, www.wexarts.org.
