Pull Cord Generator (PCG)
11-24-2007
I came across this interesting development that seems to be the ideal EmComm power supply for field emergency use; the Pull Cord Generator (PCG). Unfortunately, it isn’t commercially available at this time. It is one of the latest efforts to convert human energy into electrical energy. It is a pull-string dynamo that can be combined with other recent technologies (e.g. gen 3 LEDs) so that 1 minute of string pulling can provide nearly 60 minutes of LED light---and the gen 3 LEDs can produce more light than a typical kerosene lantern without the associated health and fire hazards.
