Neighborhood Link Patty Beyers 720-981-7002 pbeyers@neighborhoodlink.com Neighborhood Link to Showcase an Active Sacramento Neighborhood to City Council **MEDIA ADVISORY** Who: Jack Crist, Deputy City Manager Barrett Blank, Neighborhood Link What: Please join us at Tuesday's City Council meeting to see how Sacramento neighborhoods are improving their neighborhood and civic communication by using Neighborhood Link, a unique civic resource currently available in the Sacramento metropolitan area. Neighborhood Link (www.neighborhoodlink.com) is an Internet-based community network that provides every neighborhood association in a metro area with their own FREE, interactive Web sites. Neighborhood Link is the only Internet company in the country that is focused on civic communication at the neighborhood level. The City of Sacramento has brought Neighborhood Link to its citizens to increase the communication within the community and between neighbors and the local government. The City Council will discuss ways to increase the effectiveness of this venue. We will also be showing how the Woodlake Neighborhood Association uses its neighborhood site by viewing samples of its discussion areas, how it distributes its monthly newsletter via the site, extra pages on zoning issues and even how this neighborhood is addressing traffic calming, a hot topic in Sacramento today. Members of the Woodlake Neighborhood Association and the East Sacramento Improvement Association will also be available to comment on how Neighborhood Link has helped their neighborhoods communicate more effectively. And, complete demonstrations of the Neighborhood Link site will be available immediately after the Neighborhood Link presentation by Barrett Blank. Where: City Hall Council Chamber Room - 915 I Street, Sacramento When: Tuesday, August 24, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. Contact: Patty Beyers via e-mail at pbeyers@earthlink.net or via phone at 303/987-1124.
