SE Long Street to be "dead ended"

PDOT has been having some talks of quick and direct action to close off access to SE McLoughlin via SE Long Street. Long Street has been used for quite a few years as an on ramp to the “McLoughlin freeway”. Sam Adams would like to have this happen as soon as possible and his staff is looking into ways to make it happen. This could be accomplished by the use of concrete barriers to eliminate access. There are plans to have a short “education period” for drivers so they can redirect their travels.

MAX line up date

The headline in the Portland Tribune recently announced that the price tag for the Milwaukie / Portland MAX line would be $1.4 billion dollar price tag. Best guess is that this is an accurate number and the final price may be even higher. Other news to counter that is that projected rider ship has also increased, now up to 25,000 daily riders. PDOT and the Bureau of Planning will be considering the idea of combining the proposed Rhine and Holgate stations into a station at SE Center Street.
