PARKS AND FACILITIES
The following is a listing of the main parks and recreational facilities available. For further information on these facilities, contact us at the Community Center:

CIVIC TRIANGLE PARK: Located between Boston Post Road and Rope Ferry Road, this park includes a pond (available for ice-skating), a gazebo(available for rental), 2-lighted basketball courts, trails, and a tot park.

JORDAN MILL PARK: Located off Great Neck Road (Governor’s Landing), this park offers scenic trails. Look for the marker sign indicating driveway entrance off of Trumbull Road, between 15-17. Also provides access to Long Island Sound.

VETERANS' MEMORIAL FIELD: Located on Boston Post Road, this is a lighted softball field for men’s and women’s softball games, scheduled nightly during the spring and summer. It is also home of the WHS Girl's Softball team. Spectator seating is available. Field is available for rent through the Recreation and Parks Department.

WATERFORD COMMUNITY CENTER: Located at 24 Rope Ferry Road, the offices of Recreation & Parks and Senior Services are located here. The center includes:
*Multi-Purpose Activity Room for community events, basketball, volleyball, and recreation programs
*Cardiovascular/Fitness Room
*Locker Rooms
*Dance/Aerobics Studio
*Technology/Computer Room
*Conference/Training Rooms
*Arts & Crafts Rooms
Dining Room & Kitchen
*Outdoor Patio
*Billards
Use of all these facilities is scheduled through the Recreation and Parks Department.
Programs will be offered at various times during the day.

JORDAN PARK HOUSE: Located at the corner of Avery Lane and Rope Ferry Road, this building serves as the office of the Waterford Historical Society and as a town meeting facility in the evening. Community use is scheduled through the Recreation and Parks Department. The Historical Society also provides tours of the historical structures located on the
Jordan Green. Call them at 442-2707 for more information.

WATERFORD HIGH SCHOOL FACILITIES/ INDOOR POOL: Located on 20 Rope Ferry Road, the facilities include a baseball field, soccer fields, football field, six lighted tennis courts, playing fields, running track, fitness trail, weight room, 25 meter indoor pool, gymnasium, fieldhouse, and auditorium. Community use and rentals of these facilities is scheduled through the Recreation and Parks Department.

LEARY PARK/RECREATION AREA: Located at 739 Vauxhall Street Extension, this area includes a baseball field, softball field, four tennis courts, soccer field, jogging trails, picnic area, children’s playground, and a basketball court.

STENGER FARM PARK: Located along Clark Lane and adjacent to the Sanctuary Basin Picnic Area, this 100 acres of open space offers walking/ biking/ jogging trails, cross country ski area, and beautiful open space in this busy section of town. Parking field is along Clark Lane entrance to this property. No bathroom or water facilities at this time. !!RECENTLY ADDED, ALICE B. SULLIVAN DOGPARK!!

PLEASURE BEACH: Located on New Shore Road, this is an 88' beach frontage on Long Island Sound. During the summer, a lifeguard is on duty. Parking for the beach is about 100 yards north of the beach entrance on the opposite side of the road. A parking sticker is required and may be obtained at the Recreation Office the first Monday in June.

WATERFORD BEACH PARK: Located at 317 Great Neck Road(Route 213), this park includes 95 acres with a 1200' waterfront beach on Long Island Sound. It is staffed with lifeguards & gate & parking attendants during the summer months. Daily beach fees take effect from Mid June through Labor day, or you can purchase a seasonal pass. Rates differ for residents and non-residents. Picnic areas are available. Group picnic pavilions are scheduled on a first come, first serve basis beginning the first Monday in October for residents (family groups) who have first priority. Thereafter, applications will be accepted from Waterford based non-profit or town funded groups, followed by Waterford businesses, then they open to the general public. A fee is charged for picnic pavilion rental and beach field rental.
The park also has two tennis courts located within it, and some trails. The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center is located next to Waterford Beach Park.
OUR ANNUAL SUMMER CONCERT SERIES TAKES PLACE HERE.
KIDDIES/BEEBE’S BEACH: Located on Niantic River Road, this is a small beach with frontage on the Niantic River.

SANCTUARY BASIN PICNIC AREA: Located on Kingfisher Way, adjacent to Stenger Farm, this area offers a picnic area and pedestrian access to Stenger Park byway of bridge.

DEDRICK FIELD: A softball field Located on Dayton Road across from Cohanzie School.

CAMP HARKNESS: Located at 301 Great Neck Road, Camp Harkness is a 102 acre, year- round recreational facility located on Long Island Sound, designed for the use of disabled individuals, their families and friends. The entire park is designed to allow disabled individuals as much mobility as possible. Admission to the park is by a “no fee” pass which is granted to individuals upon request. Beach, picnic area, trails, and cabins available. Besides the use of the waterfront, the facility offers therapeutic recreational horseback riding, the use of the park for camping and other social events, and the use of the fitness circuit. For further information, call Camp Harkness, at 443-7818. Our Summer EH program takes place here.

QUAKER HILL GREEN: A Village Green is located at the intersection of Old Norwich Road and Old Colchester Road in Quaker Hill.

VETERANS' MEMORIAL GREEN: A park at the intersection of Route 1 and Route 156, adjacent to Town Hall, is dedicated to all men and women of the Armed Forces of the United States.

RIDGEWOOD PARK: Newly established green spaces in the Ridgewood Park section of Town are located along the shores of Alewife Cove.

PRE-SCHOOL AND EARLY ELEMENTARY PLAYSCAPES: Located on the campus of each of the Town’s THREE Elementary Schools. Please check with your local Principal for use schedules and guidelines.

MAGO POINT PARK: A small park on River Street overlooking Niantic River Bay. Picnic tables and benches available as well as fishing.

VETERANS' MEMORIAL PARADE GROUND: Located at the intersection of Rope Ferry and Great Neck Road. This area was used prior to and during the American Revolution as a training area by the militia.

TENNIS COURTS: Waterford High: Six lighted courts. Leary Park: Four courts. Waterford Beach Park: Two courts. Quaker Hill School: Two courts.
