Metro San Diego Clubs & Organizations National Wildlife Federation/ San Diego County West Nile Virus in Your Yard How to Help Prevent it There is a great product called "Mosquito Bits - Quick Kill" which is an organic control for mosquito larvae in ponds, water garden containers, and birdbaths. It will not hurt any birds or other animals that drink the water. It comes in a plastic jar that is bright red and yellow and costs about $10. The active ingredient is Bt (Bacillus thurengiensis). I found it at City Farmers Nursery located at Home and Euclid. You only need a few sprinkles once a week to keep the mosquito larvae from developing.
