KANDO (Kaul Avenue Neighborhood Development Organization) Recap of April 2009 KANDO Meeting The meeting was held on April 14, 2009 at the Alcan Building. Following the Agenda, Cheryl Hobbs welcomed everyone and introductions were made. Next on the Agenda was Police Issues and there was a short discussion on some of the problem properties and specific issues were passed on to the Officers present at the meeting. The Officer’s informed the group of the Direct Patrol mission that has been assigned to the area including the Ridgeview Village apartments (the old Carmen Courts). The other problem areas will also be addressed by the Direct Patrol. Following the Agenda was Neighborhood Issues and the group was introduced to the new management of Ridgeview Village. The following information was passed along regarding the development: There are 96 units in 12 buildings. There are cameras around the office and a live feed from the interior of the onsite office to the main office. The goal is to have all tenants feel safe and secure, and it was reported that there are a lot of great tenants. Tenants are now on a month to month lease. $300,000.00 worth of landscaping has already been done and they continue to work on the development. Cars are being towed that don’t belong on the property and the parking lots will be repaved. The development is a Chapter 42 program and it is illegal for felons to live there. Management is working closely with the Fourth District and will evict immediately when rules are broken. The final item on the Agenda was the Annual Neighborhood Clean Up and the following was decided: The event will begin at 10:00am and everyone will meet on the corner of 64th and Bobolink. We will meet back at this location at 12:00pm for lunch. The area covered will be 60th to 70th and Silver Spring to Kaul Avenue. The following was agreed to donate: Cheryl: Grill/charcoal/chips Ron and Mike: Hot dogs/buns/condiments/drinks Judy: Gloves/hand sanitizer Liz: Will bring the bags/coupons and papers towels It was suggested that copies of How To Call Dispatch be made up and given to residents and tenants that help with the event.
