MAY 2009 KANDO MEETING RECAP

The was meeting held on May 12, 2009 at the Alcan Building.
Following the Agenda, Mike Link, the President of KANDO, welcomed the group.

Next on the Agenda was Police issues and there was a short discussion on some of the problem properties and specific issues. The items that were discussed will be passed on to District Four.

Under Police Issues there was also a link to the MPD website that you can click on and monitor the calls to dispatch.

The next item on the Agenda was neighborhood issues and there was a list of foreclosed properties in the area. There was a short discussion on the monies available thru the City of Milwaukee for purchasing foreclosed properties. It was also agreed that when Liz Hammer receives notification of these properties she will forward them on to the landlords.

Liz pointed out that she has successfully used the website to report pot holes and encourages everyone to use that method.

There is an area in the neighborhood that has basketball hoops in the street and everyone was reminded to call dispatch when they see this.

The last item on the Agenda was to reschedule the neighborhood clean up that was canceled because of rain. The group picked Saturday June 13th from 10:00 to 12:00pm, we’ll meet on the corner of Bobolink and 64th to pick up the gloves and bags and we’ll meet back for a cookout. Liz Hammer will pass this date on to Cathy, Scott and the Lighthouse. Liz will also check if we can again get some dumpsters for the clean up. Flyers will be redone with the rain date and emailed to the landlords.

There was a short discussion on the amount of litter that is in the neighborhood.

The Agenda had a reminder about the May Crime Analysis meeting.

The following attachments were on the Agenda:
1.Information on where to call to report pot holes
2.Information on Recovery and Reinvestment in Milwaukee Website
3.Information on Alarm Companies in our neighborhoods
4.Information from MPD regarding reduction in crime
