Volunteer Opportunities with Families & Allies


Network Volunteers and Volunteering in the Office
Personal Network Volunteers - volunteer 3-5 hours per month to attend a Personal Network meeting and assist the focus person with achieving their goals and dreams. May include providing transportation, riding the bus with an individual, taking them grocery shopping or to doctor’s appointments, going to the library or a movie or taking a walk with them, etc. Must commit to a full year and a background check. 10 needed

Office Volunteer – volunteer 8-12 hours/month, send out emails, handle correspondence, help with mailing and email database, do research on other organizations, organize and file office paperwork. 1 needed


Development and Publicist Opportunities
Development Volunteer – volunteer 2-4 hours a week to research grants and find potential funders, help prepare proposals and update attachments, track details, enter data into computer database, keep a development calendar, track donors and send timely thank you letters. 1 needed

Publicist – volunteer 1 day/week to gather and write stories about the individuals that Families and Allies assists. Distribute these stories through website, Constant Contact, staff public presentation tables, answer questions about the organization, maintain handouts, graphics, write copy to publicize organizational activities, write articles for quarterly newsletter, attend community events, take digital photographs and categorize and represent Families & Allies Working Together. 2 needed


Special Events and Tutors
Special Events Volunteers – time commitment varies according to event, includes organizing, planning and implementing special events such as annual dinner, auctions, art shows, and wine-tastings. Previous experience preferred. 3 needed, on as-needed basis

Reading/Writing Tutor – volunteer 2-4 hours a week teaching focus persons to read and write and how to communicate better. 1-2 needed
