Metro Denver Clubs & Organizations Families & Allies Working Together Giving First Online Offers Matching Funds to Nonprofits LMC Community Foundation has created a link between giving and the community. GivingFirst is the Foundation’s new online tool designed to enrich donors’ knowledge about the nonprofit sector and encourage charitable giving in metropolitan Denver. This online resource provides vital facts about a nonprofit’s management, finances, and programs and creates a detailed portrait to help donors make informed decisions about their charitable giving. GivingFirst helps connect donors with causes they care about by sharing consistent, validated data on metropolitan Denver nonprofits. LMC Community Foundation believes this program will encourage philanthropy, recognize the good work of hundreds of area nonprofits, and strengthen the nonprofit sector and the entire community. To encourage philanthropy, whenever credit card donations are made through GivingFirst, LMC Community Foundation pays the credit card processing fees (through the end of 2007), which typically are three percent per gift. This means that 100 percent of gifts made through GivingFirst.org goes directly to the participating nonprofit. What a great way to ensure your full donation goes to your favorite GivingFirst nonprofit. GivingFirst.org was launched on May 31, 2007, and has since raised more than $125,635 worth of donations directed to 37 nonprofits. When you include LMC Community Foundation’s 50 cents-per-dollar match, over $175,635 was raised for these nonprofits in eleven weeks! Families & Allies Will Go Live on October 3, 2007 The second round of GivingFirst nonprofit profiles will launch on Wednesday, October 3, 2007. When these profiles go-live for the public to view, $50,000 in matching funds from the Foundation will also be released. These funds will match gifts made through GivingFirst, 50 cents on the dollar, up to $5,000 per nonprofit. This is a competitive, first come, first served matching gifts program and is not a guarantee of matching gift dollars to any participating nonprofit.
