Who and what is CAPMAT? In response to threats to Cockroach Bay's outstanding ecological character, the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) approved the formation of a citizen's advisory group, Cockroach Bay Aquatic Preserve Management Team (CAPMAT), in 1993. Authority for establishment of CAPMAT comes from the county's Comprehensive Plan. Membership includes representatives from state and county regulatory agencies, economic interests within the watershed, recreation and sports fishermen, and residents who express specific interest in the area. Membership is contingent on BOCC approval. |
