Rogers/Tildon/Veronica Place Garden

Garden Opening Held May 22, 2004
The garden opened with a continental breakfast and visitors. Rep. R. Jacobs came and had a few words with the garden members. Ives from Erasmus Neighborhood Federation (ENF) came to meet and greet and remind the garden members of the BBQ that his organization is having on Thursday, May, 27 to discuss ways to improve the community's services. Pat McCarty, Chairman of the Brooklyn Queens Land Trust (BQLT) came to speak about the work that his committee is doing for the gardens, including licensing agreements and encouraging each garden to create and implement their garden by-laws. Ceci Charles-King of the BQLT Communications Committee spoke about the ways that our garden can help make our organization's website more informative by including information on the Rogers/Tilden/Veronica Place Garden webpage at http://www.brooklynqueenslandtrust.org or simply www.bqlt.org. Ceci asked for pictures, garden stories, tips, events, and typists to help out. Ives told us that when ENF gets their computers re-connected, BQLT members can use the lab. He also spoke of computer lessons held every Tuesday and Thursday at either 11:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00pm that community members can take for $25.00 for a six week course.
Overall, it was a very interesting and informative day.
