Thank you to our residents who attended the Neighborhood Meeting last evening. We had a really nice crowd which was very diverse with a good mix of long term and new neighbors.
Captain Harpole and his officers explained some rerstructurng of how things are being done in the police department. The new Chief is transitioning the department to a Diferential Patrol" model. Which means the very best advice they can give us is to PLEASE call police for incidents requiring police attention. We are not going to get the police presence we need if no one calls police. He did thank residents who have been calling things in and reminded us that there have been 5 problem propertys where the Community Prosecution Team have had to intervene which resulted in some arrests. This has all happened within a 6 week time period more the reason to really keep your eyes and ears open and report things that police should know about.
Neighbors also shared problem property information with officers. We have some of the new police contact sheets which were handed out at the meeting with names, phone, and email numbers of who to call for whatever situation you need police for. If you want one please email:
We presented Alderman Murphy with photos and addresses of the most noticeable pot holes and sink holes in the neighborhood. He talked about looking into what has been done in Racine to alleviate some of the financial burden of property owners which experience lateral breaks.
The Alderman explained how the new noise ordinance will work. People with bumping stereos cruising through the area had better be ready to pay hefty fines if they are reported. The increasing problem with speeding issues on North 40th were discussed-the Alderman would like to have a meeting with the residents of the 400 block of North 40th Street, since most of the problem is happening there. We will be discussing the possibility of putting in traffic calming measures such as speed bumps.
District 3 will be with us for our first Neighborhood Walk on May 22nd-we will also be doing a clean up as we walk and any one who participates will receive passes for the zoo, domes, etc. first come forst served.
