Code Enforcement in general
While serving as a police officer for 25 years, one of the things I learned is that everyone wants law and order--until it effects them. The same can be said about code enforcement. Everyone wants their neighbor to keep their yard looking nice. The rub comes when your neighbors want you to keep yours nice too.
Code enforcement can be likened to a home owners association that is run by the city and perhaps my wife said it best when she said, ''You love your HOA when they are after your neighbor, you hate them when they are after you.'' But the big difference between an HOA and city code enforcement is that city ordinances are adopted by what they call ''Minimum Acceptable Standards.'' Which means a condition can be within city standards but still be an eyesore to the neighborhood.
Marlbourgh Mesa does not have an HOA, but be very thankful for the concerned citizens in your neighborhood that are trying to bring up your community. It is in every way, a benefit to you.
It keeps your property values up; it makes your neighborhood pleasent for your friends and family to drive through when they come to visit; it helps keep the crime rate down; it makes it much-much easier for you to sell your property; and it makes your neighborhood desirable for others to want to move in to.
Marlbourgh Mesa is in a very good location and has great opportunity to drastically increase their property values. As the east valley is expanding to the point home owners are spending an hour or more to get to work, the inner city areas are becoming more desirabe--if they are kept up. Many people are moving back in and Dobson Ranch is the perfect example. People don't mind buying older homes in Dobson Ranch because of their reputation.
Though Marlbourgh Mesa does not have an HOA, it does have many streets and areas that are very well kept and are very desirable. So be thankful for those who are trying to make your neighborhood a better place to live and please go out of your way to support them. It helps you in every way, including putting money in your pocket. sj
