Minutes from the 4-23 TPNA Meeting
Report from Tom Owen
Terra Long, Tom's assistant, told us that the city has acted on a report that Baxter Ave. along the bridge was not draining, and that the problem had been solved. She thanked us for submitting addresses where sidewalks need repair. The city has already marked some of these for future work. Terra also reported that improvements have been completed along Eastern Parkway. We also discussed submitting a letter in favor of painting murals on the outer restroom walls in Tyler Park as a means of discouraging graffiti. Terra informed us that murals can be painted on alley walls by homeowners or by others with homeowners' permission.
Tyler Park Master Plan
Several board members had been in attendance at the April 13th master plan meeting and shared the info from that, chiefly that the consultants are seeking neighborhood input. Board members discussed methods of getting more input on the survey, which is currently online. We planned door-to-door surveying, having surveys available at the Cherokee Art Fair, and having people fill them out while at Tyler. We'd like to get more info on how people currently use the park and on what improvements they'd like to see. We planned for four survey drop-off points, and Mike Gramig agreed to put the surveys together and get them printed. As of today (4-26) the library has agreed to have surveys and a collection box available and Jeanette Westbrook has circulated surveys at the Cherokee Art Fair.
Other Business
Manny reported the following from our treasury: $21,050.11 in one CD, $5225.18 in another CD, $5609.01 in savings, $1700.89 in PNC checking, and $2102.72 in National City checking. We discussed using the past 3 years' wine event balance strictly for park improvements.
Rebecca Watson reported that we had 61 children participate in our Easter Egg Hunt on April 11. We had $109 in donations. Lisa Hite, neighborhood resident and Metro Parks contact, had a stack of Master Plan surveys handy at the hunt.
Our next meeting will be on May 28 at 7 PM in the meeting room of the Highlands-Shelby Library in Mid-City Mall.
