Minutes from the 6-25 TPNA meeting

Crime Report

Officer Artman reported on the following incidents: two burglaries, one on Edgeland (door unlocked - laptop taken) and one on Ellwood (bike stolen off a front porch). A vehicle was stolen but positive ID was made. Vandals were caught in the act on the roof of Mid City Mall via camera. President Mike Gramig added that graffiti continues to mar the tunnel ceiling in Tyler Park despite the addition of cameras. The sign at Tony Boom Bozz has been vandalized. Graffiti was found in the 1600 block of Lucia. Some jeans were stolen during a car break-in. Two cars were broken into in the parking area near the nail salon on Bardstown Road. There was an assault reported in the Mid City Mall parking lot.

Bailout Needed - or at least your membership money

Our treasurer, Manny Caralero, reported that we had expenses of about $550 for the newsletter, about $500 for insurance for the garden tour, and $240 for our mailbox and mailing permit. Our checking account was down to about $600. We have other savings, but obviously our regular expenses are quite large and we really depend upon member dues and proceeds from special events. Volunteer work saves us thousands of dollars each year and makes each event possible, whether coordination of the event or help with set-up and clean-up. Many thanks for your continued support! Ad revenue is down, as is membership money. Manny reported about $1700 in our special account earmarked for Tyler Park improvements; these proceeds are from the January wine event and from last year's garden tour.

Garden Tour

Thanks to the great effort and coordination of Jeanette Westbrook and Terry Redden, the "Gardens and Pools of Tyler Park" tour is set for Saturday, June 27. The tour received great coverage by the Courier-Journal on Saturday, June 20, though some residents failed to get the supplement. Our hurricane and ice storm adventures delayed the tour and regular garden work by residents, so we greatly appreciate your efforts to be included in this year's tour. We will have 11 homes on the tour, plus our fourth annual pottery sale to be held at 1811 Edenside Avenue. Special thanks go to our sponsors: Keith's Hardware, Valu Market, and Semonin Realty, without whose help there could be no tour.
Jeanette reported that a TPNA resident is interested in running a home tour of Arts and Crafts houses in our neighborhood. Such special fund-raisers (our wine event and garden tour) are our chief means of keeping money in our treasury and depend a lot on sponsorship and volunteer effort, for which we are very appreciative.

Our next regular meeting is set for July 23 at 7 PM in the library at Mid City Mall.
