CNC President Selected by Mayor to Oversee Industrial Project

Implementation Strategy to Redevelop Several Neighborhoods

CNC President & Chief Operating Officer, Michael Brooks, was reccently appointed by Louisville Mayor, Jerry E. Abramson, to an advisory council to oversee the Implementation Strategy of a 1,140-acre industrial development project for the Park Hill Corridor, which includes the Algonquin, California, Limerick, Park Hill, Old Louisville Neighborhoods, as well as portion of the University of Louisville. The appointment was announced by the Mayor in an article appearing in the Louisville newspaper, The Courier Journal, on Wednesday, June 25, 2008. Mr. Brooks is one of eleven members appointed to represent the areas affected.

Other Local Business Owners and Organizations Selected

Some other members of the advisory council include local leaders from such companies and institutions as Brown-Forman Corporation, Freedom Metals, the University of Louisville, Great Northern Manufacturing Company, and Sud Chemie (located at the old Brown & Williamson Corporation headquarters at 1600 West Hill Street).

Implementation Strategy Builds Upon Previous Recommendations

The Implementation Strategy will build upon recommendations of recent economic and transportation studies, and integrate the input of West Louisville and other stakeholders, to provide a specific roadmap for repositioning the Park Hill Industrial Corridor. "There is tremendous development potential in the Park Hill Industrial Corridor despite many challenges resulting from past disinvestment loss" states CNC President, Michael Brooks.

The Park Hill Industrial Redevelopment Project is a key component of Louisville's competitive regional economy to ensure jobs in an area that was once prone to lack of commercial development.
