CNC President Selected by U. of L. to Oversee Community Outreach
Michael Brooks Selected by Provost to Selection Committee
CNC President, Michael Brooks, was recently selected by University of Louisville Provost, Shirley Willihnganz, to a selection committee to acknowledge outstanding contributions of University of Louisville faculty members, staff persons, university students and community partners for 2009. Mr. Brooks is one of eight individuals who will serve on this committee to bestow upon these individuals the Community Engagement Outreach Recognition Award. This is the first year that U. of L. has began this prestigious award. There are thrity-three nominations in all, and only ONE from each category will be selected.
The role of this committee is to analyze the award submissions with the goal of choosing the best representatives of outstanding service-learning, outreach, partnerships and curricular engagement.
Community Engagement Outreach Award Eligibility
Faculty -- includes a minimum of five years continuous employment at the University of Louisville; this award may be given to an individual or group of faculty (e.g., office or administrative unit); full-time and part-time faculty are eligible.
Staff -- Includes a University of Louisville staff member that has a minimum of five years of continuous employement; the award may be given to an individual or group or staff (e.g., office or administrative unit); and full-time and part-time staff members are eligible.
Student -- includes community engagement activity or service must have takne place while the U. of L. student is at the university; the aard mayh be given to an individual or group of students (e.g. RSO, class); and full-time and part-time students are eligible.
Community Partner -- includes a community partner for oustanding community work in partnership with the University of Louisville; nominees must be a 501C(3) agency/organization in good standing.
Community Engagement Recognition Award Reception
The Community Engagement Award reception will be held at the Elaine Chao Auditorium on October 20, 2009.
