California Collaborative Welcomes Neighborhood Coordinator
Michael Dean is New Neighborhood Management Coordinator
The California Collaborative welcomes Mr. Michael Dean as its Neighborhood Management Coordinator. Michael is a native of Cincinnati and has worked twenty-five years with the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wisconsin. HE retired from that position and returned to Louisville to be with his wife, Sharon, a life-long California area resident. He served on the academic staff of the Space Science and Engineering Center.
Mr. Dean is responsible for duties related to the implementation of a neighborhood-wide communications, action and outcomes-driven project designed to advance the California Neighborhood, in alliance with two major neighborhood organizations, an institution of higher education, businesses, faith-based institutions and a cadre of neighborhood-serving agencies. He will work closely with resident leadership from the California Neighborhood Coalition and the California Block Club Federation to link their activities to resources compelementary to the Collaborative's stated outcomes. Michael will recruit, coordinate and support residents and other volunteers in collective approaches to meet and exceed envisioned outcomes; and, he will review for compliance and performance, multiple agtency contracts, and at the same time maintaining a detailed work plan.
Born Social Activitist
Michael has been a social acivist most of the time. He has served as a facilitator for diversity training; and he has been an active member of the South Side Neighborhood Center in Madison, Wisconsin as ell as the editor of its newsletter. Mr. Dean served on the Minority Affairs Committe in Madison, Wisconsin as its chairperson. He was also a former talk show host for WYOU Radio, "Perspectives" in Madison. He has also developed databses for the "Client Assistant Program" and conducted staff training for the State of Wisconsin.
California Neighborhood Roots
Michael states that, "he has had the fortune to marry a Louisville woman, who resides in the California Neighborhood". Since being here for the past year, Michael has helped start a neighborhood group under the ACORN leadership. Michael also as unique experience in project management and as a resource coordinator at a learning institution. His work as a quality assurance officer on space flight projects, working with NASA and repreenting the University of Wisconsin's needs is a great asset to the residents of California.
