May 13, 2009 Belknap Neighborhood Association Minutes
Kroger Highlands 2nd Floor Meeting Room
Present: Linda Bowles, Nancy Carrington, Cara Cashon, Ann Coates, Paul Coates, Joan Combs Durso, Leroy Farmer, Ruth Fister, Artus Fox, J.D. Franklin, Officer Marc Hall, Clyde Lang, Mary Lang, Bernard Leeds, Terra Long, Fred Maurer, Rita Recktenwald, Dena Schwartz, Catherine Spalding
Board members excused:
President Nancy Carrington called the meeting to order at 7:03 pm. Agendas & Minutes were passed out.
Minutes--Secretary Mary Lang presented the minutes of the April 8, 2009 meeting. Amendment: Old Business--Paul Coates wanted to know if BNA paid the annual fee for the registration with the State. Nancy will go on-line and submit and update the information. Minutes were approved as amended.
Financial Report—Treasurer Joan Combs Durso presented the financial report. The current balance is $2085.66. This includes ad revenue for the newsletter and membership dues.
Police Report—Officer Marc Hall gave the police report.
Council persons Report—Terra Long
Tom Owen’s office is trying to find out who is responsible for fixing the sidewalk in front of Papa John’s, or his office will be asked to appropriate money.
Mr. Owen’s office will appropriate money to mulch the loop. Zoom group is paid to pick up trash. Terra will ask Luv-It-Landscaping to check the plantings.
Sidewalk repairs—Tom’s district has the biggest area of sidewalks requested to be fixed. When the stimulus money comes in the repairs will begin.
Front porch Tuesday is May 19th for the odd side of the street.
Committee Reports
Communications— The newsletter proof will be back and is due to be edited soon and then will go to the printer. Delivery will be in the next several weeks. The ads sold covered the cost. Belknap has a Facebook page now.
Blossom Awards Nominations—Kroger, Luv-It-Landscape and the Blvd. Napoleon Chainsaw Gang were nominated. All were approved.
Nominations Committee—Committee members are Artus Fox, Fred Maurer and Nancy Carrington. They will be calling people. Fred asked if those in attendance would be willing to visit neighbors and recruit them.
New Business— Belknap Building Condos—Work has begun on the old school building. Garages have been dropped as of now.
Trolley service has been dropped because of funding.
Old Business—Dundee Tavern outdoor seating has been approved.
A letter has been sent to oppose the Pink Door 4am closing. The Pink Door has withdrawn the request. Nancy will check on the possibility of having a future meeting at the Pink Door.
