This is an opportunity for residents to individually contribute to breathing clean air! You can trade in your gas lawn mower for an electric one for a reasonable price. It costs only $100 dollars, along with trading in your old gas mower to purchase an electric lawn mower worth $400. The exchange program takes place in Long Beach one day only on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at

You will need to register before you go. Registration for the 2008 Lawn Mower Exchange Program will begin on March 18, 2008 at 9 a.m. and there a very limited supply -- act quickly! Please see the information below.

Mow Down Air Pollution 2008 Electric Lawn Mower Exchange

The South Coast Air Quality Management District, (AQMD) in cooperation with Southern California Edison and the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, is sponsoring an Electric Lawn Mower Exchange in various Southern California locations.

Residents are eligible to purchase a new Neutron¢ Cordless Electric Mower ($399 value) for $100.00 if they:

1. Pre-register at www.aqmd.gov/tao/lawnmower.html or (888) 425-6247

Registration for the 2008 Lawn Mower Exchange Program will begin on March 18, 2008 at 9am.

2. Turn in an operable gas mower .

3. Show proof of residence in South Coast AQMD jurisdiction, which includes all of Orange County, most of Los Angeles County (excluding the Antelope Valley,) almost all of Riverside County, and the non-desert portion of San Bernardino County.

4. Bring $100.00. (Cash, check or major credit cards accepted.)

The Electric Lawn Mower Exchange will be held in Long Beach on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at Veterans Stadium.
