Greetings…

Happy 4th of July! It is amazing how the time has flown by this year and all the accomplishments we have completed together thus far. From the community clean-ups and special events to the community agenda items and the replenishing of our neighborhoods, we are reshaping the District together.

As we celebrate this years Independence Day, to praise the nation's heritage, laws, history, society, and people, I hope that you take a moment to praise yourself because you are a vital part of our community. You, the mothers, the fathers, the brothers , the sisters, sons, and daughters are the glue that keeps us together. You are America!

This month I would like to invite you attend the following events….

Senior Assembly
Event Date: Wednesday, July 8th
Join me from 2:30 – 3:30 pm, July 8th, at New Hope Home, 1150 E. New York St, for a Senior Assembly. The topic will be “Healthy Cooking”.

Event Date: Thursday, July 9th,
Join me from 12:00 –1:00 pm, on July 9th, at St. Mary Towers, 1120 Atlantic Ave., for a Senior Assembly. The topic will be “Healthy Cooking”.

1st Annual Gospel Jubilee
Event Date: Sunday, July 12th
Join me as we celebrate the gospel on Sunday, from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, July 12th, on Pine Avenue. We will be closing off Pine Avenue, from Broadway to 1st Street, to take the gospel to the streets. The event is a raise fund for the 22nd Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Peace and Unity Parade Celebration. For more information call my office at (562) 570-6816.

1st Annual 6th District Community Barbeque
Event Date: Saturday, July 25th
I am calling out to all my neighbors to join me for a good old-fashioned community barbeque from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, on Saturday, July 25th, at Martin Luther King, Jr. Park, 1550 Lemon Avenue. The Long Beach Fire Fighters Local 372 will be on hand cooking up some delicious BB-Q and WSS Shoes is hosting live music and entertainment. Bring your blankets, lawn chairs, or your special summer side dish to share as we enjoy a game of cards, or my favorite… domino’s. In closing, I would like to salute our Long Beach Police Department. I am very grateful to have a skillful team watching over our neighborhoods.
I would also like to salute all my neighbors that have become part of the “Neighborhood Watch Program”. Your commitment to keeping our community safe is very much appreciated. I send a special thank you to everyone that came out to the 6th District FREE Summer Events in June. I had a wonderful time-sharing ideas and laughs with you. I hope to see you at all of our July events, too.
