CRIME WATCH ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING HELD UPDATE

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS AS CRIME WATCH CAPTAINS

A CRIME WATCH ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING was held at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church on 7-15-2002.

A representative of the Marion County Sheriffs Department, skilled in setting up a neighborhood crime watch program. Gave information on home and personal safety issues, how to report suspicious activity, how to reduce your vulerability to criminals, how to participate in a group crime watch, how to report a crime against property, what your rights and responsibilities are as a citizen and resident, plus much more. More than 80 residents of Farley attended this meeting. THANK YOU!!

Now, we need volunteers for Block Captains who will be responsible for taking information and reporting to the crime watch leader. A Captin will be responsible for about 10 houses.

Captains will NOT PATROL or ACTIVELY APPROACH SUSPICIOUS SITUATIONS. They will take reports from their group and advise how to handle a non-emergency suspicious situation, then pass on information to the Crime Watch Leader and all the 10 houses in their block. THIS IS NOT A VIGILANTE GROUP AND NO ONE WILL PATROL STREETS. We need eyes and ears to be alert for suspicious criminal activity.
