Spring 2008 Update Complaints

We are still having illegal burning going on. Call the Fire Department. Do we need to burn at all since we have trash pickup? Heavy trash will be picked up once a month if you call the mayor’s action number. (see below)

We are still throwing things in the creek. (grass clippings, trash, junk, branches, etc.) Stop as this will cause flooding.

We have quite a few abandoned homes. People can’t pay their mortgage payments and just leave. It takes about a year for the mortgage company to realize they are not going to get any more payments and put the house on the market again. Please do what you can to keep the house from getting attention by maybe mowing the front lawn. Remember a trashed house will make yours lose value also.

I have tried to cut brush and weeds along our creeks when homeowners do not. I can no longer do this physically. If someone else wants to head up a project, I can get workers, a dumpster, and maybe pay for some tool rentals. The only cost to Farley are the tool rentals. The city agency called “Keep Indianapolis Beautiful” pays for the rest. Call Don at 241-0588 if you are interested. The area around Furman and 16th is one of the worst areas. We have cleaned up the area several times but the homeowners do nothing so it soon returns to the same condition. Volunteers cleaned up this area last Summer and they get my hearty Attaboy and girl for this.

Your president gets lots of phone calls concerning neighborhood disagreements. He finds that the callers have seldom contacted the neighbor they are having difficulty with. If you use a friendly approach, you can often find a mutual solution to the problem. If this approach fails, contact the president for an opinion.

If cars are without a current licence plate, the city will tow them. The city will not clean out the ditches or creeks; this is up to the homeowner. The city will not put speed bumps on our streets as they could cause a car to wreck. Call chuck holes into the mayor’s action line.
