Free Tuition/The Young Women's Institute for...

*tuition is free for young women, grades 9-12, who live in the city of
Milwaukee and whose families fall under the (fairly generous!) MPCP
income limits. We're in our final open enrollment period for the fall
2008 semester and seats are limited - Contact us today!

The Young Women's Institute for Global Studies is a new, independent
high school for young women, in the Reuss Federal Plaza (big blue
building) on 3rd & Wisconsin in downtown Milwaukee, opening this fall.

Tired of feeling like a product instead of a person? Wish you could
study things you're interested in? Want to know that what you're doing
means something In Real Life? Wanna change the world?

You have to go to school, so why not go where you'll choose and carry
out a Life Mission? Where the students have as much control over how
the
school works as the adults do? Where instead of 30, 40 or more students

in a class, you'll be in a class with never more than 19 other
students,
working with your Advisor to reach YOUR goals? Where you get to study
the world, create relationships with other students around the globe,
follow your interests, change things in YOUR community? BE the change!

Through their real-world learning work and participation in a
democratic
school community, TYWIGS students will build relationships with their
peers, adult professionals and mentors. By the time a young woman
graduates from our Institute, she will have the skills and knowledge to
confidently proceed into her college education and career with passion,
and a have network of peers and adults who will support her vision and
help her grow her future. Students will become courageous, honest, and
committed leaders: from president of their own company to President of
the United States.

Upon graduation, TYWIGS, students will demonstrate:

* An ability to function as leaders and change agents within the school

and the community;
* A sense of responsibility for themselves, their learning, the school
and the community;
* An awareness of opportunities for economic self-sufficiency;
* An ability to network and work with peers and professionals;
* The ability to organize their time, work independently and
