Crime Watch
A crime watch is simply all of you looking out for each other, with particular emphasis on the neighbors in the front, back and sides of your home. An organized crime watch is mainly for the purpose of obtaining and distributing information on crime and prevention as quickly as possible.
The Camelot Crime Watch is sponsored and supported by the Camelot Neighborhood Association. We have several different programs and ways to distribute information.
Members of the Camelot Neighborhood Association receive a monthly newsletter, which publishes crime statistics for the neighborhood, articles on crime prevention, and any special warnings from neighborhood sources or the Garland Police.
Occasionally, we distribute Crime Watch Alert flyers to the entire Camelot neighborhood when a warning is necessary.
This website is another way of reaching our membership. Crime Watch Alerts will be posted here as needed.
Many of our block captains have moved away; we will be very actively recruiting block captains all over the neighborhood. A block captain is the primary means of passing information back and forth from the neighborhood to the Crime Watch. A block captain gets the name and telephone number of every house on his/her block and notifies neighbors if there is need for a warning. The block captain also notifies the Crime Watch Coordinator of any problems on the block. The block captain is the most important part of the Watch, and we are in need of block captains on almost every street. Please e-mail Melissa Matthies at dm4mm@aol.com if you would like to be a block captain.
