CRIME WATCH UPDATE - SEPTEMBER 18, 2007

Greetings, Neighbors,

In case you didn't hear about the off-duty Sheriff's Deputy who was robbed Thursday, September 13, let me fill you in on some details to warn you to take precautions and be alert at all times.

This incident occurred at the shopping strip at the NW corner of Lakeland and Ferguson Road about 7 p.m. when a man had just robbed a nail salon, then encountered the deputy and demanded money at gunpoint. As the deputy opened his wallet, the robber saw the badge, demanded and stole the deputy's department-issued gun. The robber fled in a black Cadillac Escalade with others who had been waiting inside.

Evidently no one was hurt because at gunpoint, they felt that their lives were more important than the money or the gun. So take note of this if you ever find yourself in front of a gun. Just remember that this robber now has two guns running loose!

During the weeks of September 2-16, our neighborhood suffered a BMV on Boeing Court on the 9th and an auto theft on Jim Miller on the 10th. The three apartment complexes on Dilido had a total of five offenses during the same time period with St. Thomas Circle having one burglary. And as much as we want people to enjoy our park, we need to warn you to please leave the park by 8 p.m. to avoid becoming victimized. Yes, please also be aware of any suspicious activities at other times and report to 911.

The crime maps for all of "2-Points" area show 33 offenses for first week of September and 34 for second week. You may want to participate in the Quarterly Crime Summit for the NE Division to help find solutions. Please circle Tuesday, October 16, 7 p.m., at 11000 E. Northwest Hwy.

P.S. We have received the name and # of a highly recommended licensed electrician if you need one. And please stay out of the way of the small black car with spoiler when you hear it coming!

Thanks, Glenda
